    We used to call this dinosaur, Brontosaurus, but the name Apatosaurus was actually used first when the bones were being described. The name Brontosaurus was incorrectly used to describe the mixed up bones of several different dinosaurs.

    Notes - Diplodocus looked a lot like Apatosaurus. He was a little lighter but he was quite a bit longer. He had teeth shaped like short pencils and a very small head with large eyes. The toes of Diplodocus had were shaped like claws. He could use these for defense.

    Notes - Nodosaurus was a large slow animal but she was well protected by bumps and plates of bone that surrounded her body. This kept her from being eaten by most meateaters. We can tell from the shape of her teeth that she was a planteater.

    Notes - Brachisaurus was the tallest dinosaur. She weighed 75 tons which is about the same as 10 or 12 African elephants. She had short hind legs and long front legs which is why she was called the 'arm lizard'. Brachiosaurus was a peaceful plant eater.

    We used to call this dinosaur, Brontosaurus, but the name Apatosaurus was actually used first when the bones were being described. The name Brontosaurus was incorrectly used to describe the mixed up bones of several different dinosaurs.

    Notes - Tyrannosaurus is probably the best known and most popular dinosaur! He was huge and fearsome with large clawed feet and enormous sharp teeth. He probably struck fear into the hearts of all the dinosaurs around him.

    Notes - Diplodocus looked a lot like Apatosaurus. He was a little lighter but he was quite a bit longer. He had teeth shaped like short pencils and a very small head with large eyes. The toes of Diplodocus had were shaped like claws. He could use these for defense.

    They were very slow but had a lot of protection in the form of large bony plates and spikes on the top of their bodies. They also had a large knob on the tip of their tails.

    Notes - Nodosaurus was a large slow animal but she was well protected by bumps and plates of bone that surrounded her body. This kept her from being eaten by most meateaters. We can tell from the shape of her teeth that she was a planteater.

    Latin for - ARM LIZARD

    Found in - Colorado and Africa

    Notes - Brachisaurus was the tallest dinosaur. She weighed 75 tons which is about the same as 10 or 12 African elephants. She had short hind legs and long front legs which is why she was called the 'arm lizard'. Brachiosaurus was a peaceful plant eater.

    Notes - Triceratops is probably one of the most famous dinosaurs. His 3 horns and stocky body gave him a good chance at defending against large meateaters. He was most likely a peaceful grazing planteater but if needed he could use his claws and horns for defense.

  • DIMETRODON

    This Dimetrodon wasn't really a Dinosaur and certainly couldn't have lived at the same time as the Stegosaurus he is seen here with. Some scientists believe that Dimetrodon was closer to a mammal than a reptile.

    Notes - Titanosaurus was a large sauropod like Apatosaurus. Not much is known about him although some scientists think that his skin was covered with an armor like coating.

    Notes - Stegosaurus is a very well known dinosaur. He had bony plates down his back and these could be used for protection and in the warming or cooling of his blood. He had a VERY small brain for his size but scientists think he had something like a brain in his tail!
